Is there a role for intuition in developing business strategy?
You have just had a really successful meeting with a senior business leader. It was a tough situation but everything went perfectly; you could answer all her questions, you spoke eloquently, you remembered all the key points and could debate the pros and cons in a relaxed manner. You are on cloud nine.
We’ve all been there. Sometimes you find you are working with someone who, for whatever reason, you simply can’t stand. Whether they simply rub you up the wrong way, or you disagree with their entire approach, this is a difficult situation to be in.
Firstly, we should acknowledge that a plan on its own cannot deliver. Execution is what really matters – delivering on our people plans improves the credibility of HR and earns us the right to shape the wider business agenda.
