We are undertaking some research to understand what the companies who most successfully execute talent strategy actually do in practice.
Our work suggests that at the core of an effective talent strategy is a simple, but not simplistic articulation of what makes an organisation successful – the difference that makes the difference. This must then be underpinned by an integrated approach across all the core levers of talent which balance people, process and infrastructure.
The research will examine whether the best organisations do this to achieve their talent strategy goals.
Scope
We will be looking at all components of talent strategies (e.g. programmes like leadership development and reward schemes, processes like succession planning, and technology like performance management systems)
We will include participants from all sectors in both UK and global companies
Our aims;
Identify successful talent strategy activity in participating organisations
Identify which talent activities have the most impact and how organisations execute their talent levers to achieve effective strategy
Indentify how the best organisations use talent strategy to execute business strategy through people. We will look at the metrics used to evaluate impact and also include qualitative feedback from interviewees.
How will the research be carried out?
The majority of the research will be completed through a structured 1.5 hour interview with selected individuals from participating organisations – ideally from both the business and HR. Interviewees may include HRDs, Heads of Talent/Organisation Effectiveness as well as Heads of specialist functions such as Reward, Learning, resourcing etc.
All responses will be treated in confidence. Data from the participant group will only be shared at an aggregate level. Orion Partners has a long track record of independent research. Some of our past research can be viewed at www.orion-partners.com. All participants will receive a summary report detailing the findings of the research and the opportunity of a discussion on the implications for their Talent Strategy.
I’m more of a football widow than a football fan, (in fact am writing this while steadfastly ignoring another episode of Match of the Day) and I certainly don’t claim to be knowledgeable about the ‘beautiful game’. That said, recent headlines have got me interested in the role of the manager at Europe’s top clubs. [...]
Winemaking is undergoing an evolution. Increasingly, growers are using a more natural holistic method to grow vines. There is much in the philosophy surrounding the method which speaks to how we grow leaders for the future.
